My parents had a classical guitar handmade from a village in Ecuador that I assumed ownership over as an adult. In another life I would have explored music more, but in this life I chose visual art. Art and music inspire each other and when I need to clear my head and escape for a moment, I often practice finger picking and strumming and have always been inspired by the art of flamenco guitar technique and the love ballads of Julio Jaramillo. The shape of a guitar is obviously feminine and while playing one evening I noticed a parallel between the ability to make the instrument produce beautiful sound and relationships with a lover. The more time and energy you put into it, the more you get back. I quickly sketched it out and it has since developed into a more refined idea.
